Artistic Profile
Ana Topalovic is a cellist and interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of instrumental performance, live electronics, and emerging technologies. Her practice expands the sonic and physical possibilities of the cello through extended techniques, real-time processing, and hybrid performance formats that integrate movement, visuals, and interactive systems.
Rooted in a classical background, her work moves fluidly between classical and contemporary music, experimental performance and collaborative creation. She develops projects that explore the relationship between nature, sound and technology, often engaging with current questions around digital presence, artificial intelligence, and perception.
Her performances range from solo formats with live looping and electronic augmentation to transdisciplinary works involving dancers, actors, painters and other artists. In these contexts, the cello functions not only as an instrument, but as a performative interface—an extension of gesture, narrative and transformation.
Alongside her artistic work, she is actively engaged in pedagogy, developing approaches that connect traditional instrumental training with contemporary techniques and creative exploration.
