Since her debut at a young age Ana regularly performs at renowned festivals and concert halls: Vienna Konzerthaus, Vienna Musikverein, Carnegie Hall, Salzburger Festspiele, Berlin Konzerthaus, Gasteig Munich, Tokyo Opera City House and many more. She has performed in 29 countries on 4 continents.

Ana Topalovic is a cellist without frontiers. Her repertoire ranges from classical solo literature and chamber music, to interdisciplinary and contemporary music with electronic sounds.

Schönberg’s “Die Prinzessin” @ Wien Modern

An exciting new project: in honour of Arnold Schönberg's 150th birthday, a children's music play adapted from the story he told his children, titled "Die Prinzessin" is being performed. Directed by Nina Kusturica, with music by Margareta Ferek-Petric, the play is part of the Wien Modern festival in cooperation with Dschungel Wien. Premiere “World Concert” by Oliver Ostermann

The “World Concert” by Oliver Ostermann, dedicated to Ana Topalovic was first performed in chamber version at Ana’s festival “Treffpunkt Kunst” and was streamed at renowned Tucuman Festival in 2020. This year, in November it will be premiered in it’s original version, for the full symphony orchestra with the Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra.

US Tour and Carnegie Hall performance

Ana was reinvited for a performance at Carnegie Hall as part of her US tour. With her MULTICELLO, she will be presenting Austrian music under the theme "New Traditions" and will be collaborating with American and international musicians: Tanya Ruth Langlois, Michael Langlois, Catalina Butcaru, and Julija Bal. She will perform solo pieces as well as her own arrangements, featuring music by Margareta Ferek-Petric, Gabriele Proy, and Wolfram Wagner. We thank BMKOES and the IBLA Foundation for supporting this tour.

BACHIANA - A Solo Cello Fantasy

Ana Topalovic is a visual synaesthete. For her, music has colours and shapes. This phenomenon opens up for Ana a new dimension of sound perception, with which she searches for hidden interfaces. For this album Ana has selected five works by contemporary composers, which for her form a complementary synaesthetic relationship to the individual movements of Bach's Suite No. 1. Many years of close cooperations between Ana Topalovic, Doina Rotaru, Johanna Doderer and Gabriele Proy, as well as an extensive experience with Kaija Saariaho’s music, helped with forming a very deep and intimate interpretation of their music.
Ana’s breathtaking musical performance of the Suite Nr. 1 by Johann Sebastian Bach leads the listener like a red thread and a friendly tour guide through a fantastical, playful, virtuosic and sensual world of Modern Music. Her interpretation inhabits a unique, extraordinary world of its own and satisfies our need to connect the Unknown with the Known. The familiar sound of the cello is illuminated in unexpected ways, hidden depths are revealed and its best qualities are brought out.
Each contemporary piece is accompanied by Ana‘s own illustrations of her synaesthetic visions.
